Thanksgiving in NYC

Although we spent this Thanksgiving 2008 without most of our immediate family, the weekend will definitely still go down as one of our favorites!

This year, we were joined by Travis' sister Lee Anna who flew in from Dallas. We all went to NYC for the full 4 days and had a great time touring the sites. One of Mindy's bridesmaids let us borrow their apartment in Manhattan so we were right by Gramercy Park.

We witnessed the Macy's Day parade (got up at 5:45am), saw the Rockettes on Broadway in the Christmas Spectacular, toasted wine in Little Italy, toured the NBC studios (including Nightly News with Brian Williams, Conan and Saturday night Live), saw Speed the Plow (with Jeremy Piven from Entourage), and walked through Central Park by the famous ice skating rink.

For Thanksgiving day, we were treated to an incredible meal at our cousins' home in NJ!

While we may work hard, we sure like to play hard! We hope you all had a great thanksgiving. Happy holidays!

Texas/OU trip

Texas State Fair Here We Come!

Today we're flying to Dallas to visit Travis' family. On Thursday, we're going to the Texas State Fair to sample some of the fried food! The hot new item on this year's menu is Fried S'mores. Doesn't the picture look awesome!? There are also fried oreos, fried banana splits and fried cheesecake. We'll have more pictures next week!

OU vs. TX

On Saturday, we enjoyed watching the Red River Rivalry (OU vs. TX) game together! For those of you who don't know, this football game is a HUGE deal for us! It basically gives bragging rights to Travis (the Longhorn fan) or Mindy (the Sooner grad) & her entire family (OU alumni)!

Of course, we had to enjoy the game in style. We reserved front row seats at the ESPN Zone in DC and for 4 hours we sat in Lazy Boy chairs watching the game on a big screen tv the size of the entire back wall! Not only that...but we had servers bringing us high calorie food all afternoon at our beck and call. To Travis, it was sheer heaven. To Mindy, it was awesome.....that is, until the Sooners lost.

A few years ago, we started a tradition....if the Longhorns score then Mindy has to kiss Travis AND if the Sooners score, Travis has to kiss Mindy! Both of us got a lot of kisses on Saturday....sadly, Travis got slightly more.

Touring Annapolis

This past weekend, we had some friends visit us in Annapolis. We took them to church with us at the Naval Academy Chapel. The midshipmen choir was there this week, so we were able to enjoy their singing during the service.

Afterwards, we all took the water taxis over to the Chart House for lunch. We had great seats at a table right on the water. That evening, Travis and I went for a walk through downtown. We love looking at all the historic homes and the local sailboats.

We love living in Annapolis! (If anyone wants to come visit......hint, hint!)

One Year Anniversary!

On Monday, we celebrated our 1st year anniversary! It's amazing to us how quickly this past year has flown by. We've had sooo much fun and we're so excited to start Year 2!

To celebrate Year 1, we went up to NJ/NYC last weekend. Our cousins, Debbie & Chris, in NJ threw us an anniversary party and we pulled out our one year old cake. It was actually still moist and delicious! (but then again, the chef/our cousin knew how to store it properly) We love our family! We had some good friends/former wedding guests join us from NJ and NYC too. It was a great party!

On Sunday/Monday, we went up to NYC and saw two broadway shows (Boeing Boeing and Equus). We also had dinner at Gordon Ramsey's 'The London' restaurant....and lunch at Central Park's Boat House. We had such a great time. The London was such a fun splurge! Neither one of us had ever eaten at such a nice restaurant before.

We finished out our anniversary week with tickets to the Navy/Rutgers game! Go Navy! We love living in Annapolis. It's such a fun town...and so close to NYC.

Democratic National Convention

I'm so proud of my husband! Travis just spent the past 10 days covering the Democratic National Convention in Denver. His company, Tribune Broadcasting, sent him there last Wednesday and he just got home last night. He did a great job and I was sooo proud! He said the speeches were exciting to watch in person. FOX News -may- be sending me to report at the Republican National Convention so I could be gone all next week. I'll find out by Sunday if I'll be going. If I'm there, we'll add more pictures to the blog, but for now, I'll just attach the one of Travis at the DNC.
